The first step in managing water quality is to assess the status of the waters of the state and determine if it meets the needs of the current uses of that water. Each state defines its own EPA approved process. As a big step towards coordinating the monitoring efforts of the three states on a river that moves in and out of state lines, a tri-state program was initiated in 2006. |
