The Bear River Compact determines the rights and obligations of the signatory states of Idaho, Utah and Wyoming with respect to the waters of the Bear River. Federal consent to the Compact was given by the Congress and signed by President Eisenhower on March 17, 1958. The Bear River Commission was created by the Compact and has been organized as an interstate agency to administer the Compact.

The Commission amended its bylaws on April 16, 1990. The amendments allowed for the creation of three standing committees of the Commission: the Management Committee, the Operations Committee, and the Records Committee. On November 18, 1997, the Commission again amended its bylaws and changed the name of the Records Committee to the Records & Public Involvement Committee. A Water Quality Committee was also created on November 18, 1997.

US FISH & WILDLIFE PARTNERS

The Partners for Fish and Wildlife (PFW) program is a broad-based partnership of Wyoming landowners, local communities, conservation districts, sportsman groups, non-governmental organizations, federal and state agencies, and others, whose mission is to address landowner and landscape conservation needs.

Habitat conservation projects are intended to benefit migratory birds, threatened and endangered species, and other sensitive species. The strength and uniqueness of Partners is that the program is not limited to any particular category of private landowner. Rural, suburban, urban, working farm or ranch, tribal or corporate lands are all eligible for assistance through the Program. Best, and perhaps most unique of all, Partners Program biologists meet with landowners, help them develop a plan for their land, and then help with implementation.
